The setting is perfect. Sheltered and sunny (the sunsets over the mountains are incredible), it commands a ridge-topped by ancient woodlands and laced with winding lanes and tracks.
There's even a hidden lake nearby for you to discover. Lie back and let its natural beauty overtake you. Or step out and go exploring for miles.
The High Cabin is warm and cosy, even in the wildest winter weather (a wonderful time to stay). In summer, it's delightfully light and airy. We've thought of everything in terms of facilities. A brilliant king-sized bed, luxurious bathroom with lashings of hot water, fully equipped kitchen, SKY Television, DVD player and stereo, with a library of discs. There's even a safe for your valuables. Outside there's a decked, heated veranda with lighting, table and chairs.
The Hot Tub
Imagine enjoying a hot tub as you watch buzzards and kestrels wheel overhead, framed by spectacular mountains.
The High Cabin's outdoor tub is kept at a constant 37°C (body temperature) every day of the year. Just try it in the snow - an incredibly satisfying experience.
Total Privacy
It's most unlikely you will see anyone else when you stay at The High Cabin. Except maybe a shepherd tending his flock in the surrounding hills.
No traffic. No callers. No noise, except the sounds of nature. We even decided not to install a telephone. But your mobile should work - if you decide to turn it on.
Absolute Freedom
Go to bed when you want. Get up when you choose. Eat and drink whenever you feel like it. Stay in and luxuriate in total comfort. Go out to eat (you could take all your meals in the Groes if you wanted). Or use it as your base for days of outdoor activity.
Our Secret
The High Cabin is easy to find. But only if you know the way. We will be delighted to provide you with a map and directions when you check in. But please return them at the end of your stay, so we can keep its secret just between ourselves.
The Tariff
- £195 per night - Sunday to Thursday (with a two night minimum stay)
- £245 per night - Friday and Saturday (with a two night minimum stay)
